American Airpower Museum Band Concert

American Airpower Museum 1230 New Highway, Farrmingdale, NY, United States

Join us Saturday June 14th at 7pm as we kick off summer with our very own American Airpower Museum Band Hangar Concert. The Band will perform a selection of songs through the decades. An enjoyable mix of Big Band, Jazz, through contemporary tunes! The Concert will begin at 7pm, and conclude at 9pm. For the 2 hour period admission will be free to enjoy the concert but we will graciously accept donations in lieu of admission to help preserve our historic landmarked hangar, and to help keep history flying! Portable Lawn chairs will be allowed in for this event, and snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase at our museum concession stands. Although weather is always a concern we will keep everyone posted through social media and our website for any changes to the event for circumstances out of our control. We look forward to having you join us Saturday evening to enjoy a few hours of great music!

C-47 Scenic Flight Experience Day

Take a scenic historic flight experience with us around central Long Island in the American Airpower Museum’s WWII Douglas C-47 “Skytrain”. This legendary Troop Transport is still authentically configured inside and out like the ones used to drop U.S Army, and British Airborne Paratroopers on their historic D-Day mission in June of 1944, as well that of Operation Market Garden in September of 1944. This scenic flight program includes arrival, briefing, and a scenic flight around the local area. This offering does not include the D-Day living history program, living historian participation. Flights on Saturday June 21st are scheduled at: 11:00am, and 12:00pm. Please note, Pre-booking online is recommended but seats will be made available to walk-in visitors if you arrive at least 1 hour prior to the flight times.  All passengers must be at least 12 years old to fly. WWII C-47 D-Day Living History Flight Experience

AAM’s Flight Experience is a one-of-a-kind immersive educational program. Living Historians guide participants as they suit up, receive their D-Day briefing and board the museum’s historic C47 Skytrain aircraft. Flying over Long Island’s south shore beaches provides the backdrop for a simulated jump and a sense of what U.S. 101st and 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers experienced on their incredible 1,200-plane D-Day assault This unique experience includes: a mission briefing in the Ready Room. A chance to wear authentic reproduction M-42 and M-43 field jackets like the ones worn by paratroopers during WWII, G.I helmets, and simulated jump harness. Experience the actual sights and sounds as the C-47’s engines fire up and you take to the skies. See, hear, and feel what it was like for the crew operating their C-47 and paratroopers getting ready to make history on the night of June 5th, and day of June 6th 1944. As you ready to "cross the beaches" you will stand up, hook up, and will simulate what it was like to be ready on the static line for the green light. Don't worry though there's no real jumping on this flight experience it's all a living history re-enactment of course! you will then return to the museum for the conclusion of the living history presentation and be able to take photos with your living historians and the aircraft! Please note, All passengers must be at least 12 years of age to participate in the flight experience. Persons 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Aviation Work Shop for Kids at the American Airpower Museum

Join us for a family friendly Aviation Workshop for Kids at the American Airpower Museum July 12th, 2025 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. This special curated event hosted by our educational staff of docents is a fun introduction to aviation and aerodynamics for Children 5-12 years old. During this workshop kids will be introduced to the basics of flight with real airplanes all around them. They will discuss basic concepts of aerodynamics while building their own balsa wood toy glider/airplane guided by our staff. We will also have our mini-wind tunnel where the kids will be shown how their planes can fly! The group will then tour the museum and our very own flyable airplanes to then show them how airplanes go from the concept of small models like theirs to actual large and flyable examples of airplanes and their history. This is a family friendly event and parents are free to enjoy the museum while their children are participating or if they'd like to participate in the event along with their kids! This event does require advance ticket purchase for the children to prepare materials for each Child, and to reserve a spot as the activity is limited to 20 participants. The cost of each ticket is $20.00 per child, and normal admission for adults based on rate eligibility. No pre-purchase is needed for adult admission, can be purchased day of the event. Come fly with us for a memorable and historic scenic flight with us aboard the American Airpower Museum’s Legendary WWII Douglas C-47 “Skytrain” Troop Transport maintained and authentically configured inside and out as it would have been in 1944 when used to drop U.S Army, and British Airborne Paratroopers on their historic D-Day missions in June of 1944. C-47s would also elevate their fame during the airborne Operation known as "Market Garden" in September of 1944. The scenic ride program includes arrival, briefing, and a scenic flight around the local Long Island North and South Shore air traffic permitting. Of note, this is not the D-Day living history program with living historian participation, that is a separate program you can also find out more about on our website. VINTAGE AVIATION PINUP PHOTO SHOOT AT THE AMERICAN AIRPOWER MUSEUM Step back in time to capture the essence of retro glamour with our vintage aviation pin-up photo shoot. Get your cameras ready as the gals strike a pose alongside the historic fighter planes of WWII, transporting you to an era of timeless beauty and elegance. Our photo shoot will take place at the American Airpower Museum, which is home to an amazing collection of vintage aircraft and historical artifacts. For our photo shoot, we’ll have the P-40 and P-51 moved outside of the hanger after normal museum hours and we’ll get to photograph our models with the planes in the afternoon sun through sunset and dusk. For our dusk shots, we will have LED lights set up to illuminate the planes and models for the photographers. Photo Shoot Hours: 4:30pm-9:00pm Rain Date: Sunday August 10th Lerro Photography is hosting this workshop, and is a third party business. The American Airpower museum is providing the location and its aircraft for use by the workshop attendees. The American Airpower Museum has no view ability, or control of the booking, or schedule process for this event.
