Volunteers are the backbone of the American Airpower Museum! Serving as a museum volunteer is a rewarding opportunity to help preserve our aviation and military history and help “Keep ‘em Flying for generations to come! As a volunteer you will have an important part in making every guest’s visit a special and unique experience at the American Airpower Museum. We are looking for Volunteers who live within 1.5-2.0hrs driving distance and can dedicate a minimum avg. of 8-10 hours a month depending their volunteer role. There are there are many different opportunities available, most are in person but some remote opportunities may be available. 

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Docent / Tour Guides
  • Historians
  • Administrative / Fundraising Volunteers
  • Facility Operations / Maintenance
  • Air Show / Museum Event Volunteers
  • Aircraft Maintenance / Flight Line Operations
  • Aircraft / Vehicle static Restoration / maintenance

How to become an AAM volunteer:

  • Be 18+ years old to volunteer. If under 18, parental supervision/permission required.
  • Complete a volunteer application either online, or in print.
  • Attend required Volunteer orientation training.
  • Complete Role specific volunteer training, and scheduled commitment.

Volunteering at AAM:

The American Airpower Museum, a 501C3 educational foundation chartered by the State of New York, could not function without the help of our volunteers. We are always looking for people who would like to be docents/guides or who have specialized skills in mechanical, construction, public relations or fundraising areas to name but a few.
