Safety Tips for your visit to the American Airpower Museum:

  1. You are visiting a working operational aircraft hangar so always follow the signs, the guidance of Museum Docents, and be aware that there things that occasionally surprise you if you are not paying attention.
  2. As there are operational aircraft, static displays, and valuable historic museum displays please respect our requests and posted signs where it directs no touching or manipulating items  in the hangar. Some exhibits are interactive and invite hands on participation but always ask a docent if you have questions on whether to touch certain displays.
  3. Please respect the fact that there are both valuable operational aircraft, and static displays in the hangar. Please do your best to prevent your children from walking and roaming around the hangar unsupervised. Running in the hangar is also not allowed. It is forbidden to cross posted barricades in the museum, and for you and your childs safety do not allow them to stray from the allowable paths, and display areas.
  4. The museum is located on an active airport, and you will have access to the flight line to see aircraft operate and take off and land. Please understand that this is a privilege we are granted so the public can truly enjoy the scope of the museum and collection. Please be sure to not wander onto the flight line unsupervised. Should you wish to see the static aircraft on display, and perhaps live aircraft operations ask docent or follow the instructions at the flight line entry point inside the hangar. You must be escorted out to the flight line for both your safety and the security of the airport.
  5. With the opportunity to walk the flight line you must be aware that it is active flight line where both museum, and the airports regular operations occur. This means you can see both small and large aircraft operations from our public accessible ramp operate in and out of Republic Airport. We do recommend that during busy weekdays or weekends that you have hearing protection available such as ear plugs or over ear protective devices. If you do not have them and would like them earplugs should be available for purchase in the gift store.
  6. In the aftermath of the COVID pandemic we still follow all New York State Guidance on health rules and regulations. Wearing masks, and social distancing are no longer required at the museum. Should you need to wear a mask for health reasons it is allowable but the museum reserves the right to ask you to remove it for the purposes of validating ID, and security requirements. If you are wearing a mask that is clearly not for health requirements we reserve the right to deny you entry to the facility due to security requirements.
