SUMMARY:C-47 Scenic Flight Experience Rides
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 13th as we continue our Summer Flight experience program with the C-47 Flight Experience Rides. You will enjoy a 15-20 Minute ride of Long Islands North or South Shore depending on the day’s air traffic where you will get to experience the sights and sounds of what it was like to fly the WWII Legend of Airpower Douglas C-47 “Skytrain”. \nThe C-47 “Skytrain” is the plane that made history by dropping the US 101st\, 82nd Airborne\, and the British Airborne into Normandy France on the eve of the invasion code named Operation Overlord\, better know to everyone as D-Day June 6th\, 1944. The “Gooney Bird” as it was affectionately called by its crews also made history in the Pacific Theater providing airlift during the Island hoping campaign\, and even more famously flying critical supplies over the Himalayas into the China\, Burma\, India theater of Operation. \nThis living history flight is approximately 15-20 minutes and will take you over Long Island’s South Shore and once again the experience gives you the sights and sounds of what it was like to fly\, and ride aboard the C-47 during WWII as you sit in the very same seats that paratroopers once sat in over 80 years ago. The C-47 is a legend of Airpower from which combat airlift was born\, and helped win WWII for the United States and its allies. \n“Four other pieces of equipment that most senior officers came to regard as among the most vital to our success in Africa and Europe were the bulldozer\, the jeep\, the 21/2-ton truck\, and the C-47 airplane.
